Question by .: What kind of career can someone with a computer science degree get?
Ive heard that computer science or computer egineering is a good choice if you like computers and what a career choice that will pay very well. Is that true?

Answer by Tim L
With a Computer Science degree, you can get a career as a software developer, Systems Analyst, Systems, Database, and LAN Administrators (you need to take networking and security classes for these careers).

There are more career choices for a Computer Science majors other than the ones I mentioned but you should get a clear idea: You’ll focus on a career working with computers either making software and other programs or working with hardware and software to fix computer based problems and maintaining computers and networks.

I assume you already have a Master´s Degree, because you do need a Doctorate to work in the field. Most states require that by law. The other possibility is that you are just entering college, and if that is the case, where you go as an undergrad does not matter, except for one thing: You CANNOT go to the same school as a grad. Anyway, the procedure is to show the professors that you have a lot of talent, in the top 5%, and then solicit Letters of Recommendation from them. These are all that matters (along with straight A´s, of course) in getting into a grad school. One grade C in any course disqualifies you for life, generally. So, it is tough. Once you have a degree, your required A grades, and about 6 Letters of Recommendation, apply to the Doctorate program at UCLA or UC San Diego. Prof. John Kitchin, Psychology

Question by Ice: What are the career prospects for someone with a BA in philosophy or classics?
I am looking to at a biology degree myself, but I always have an interest in philosophy. Just out of curiosity other than a teaching career what are the options for someone who graduated with a BA in philosophy or classics?

Best answer:

Answer by Truth is relative to an agenda
You could always become a commissioned officer in the military.

You might try a side major that could use a philosophy major as a basis for pursuing a job as an ethics consultant.

What major is recommended for someone considering a career as a screenwriter?

12月 6, 2011 · Posted in 未分類 · 3 Comments

Question by Jamie: What major is recommended for someone considering a career as a screenwriter?
I have a large mindset on going to med school, as medicine and health fascinate me. However, I have also began considering a career as a screenwriter (probably for Soaps) or broadcast journalist. I know; they are at completely different ends of the spectrum. But- I am a little confused as to what education is recommended for screenwriters and if there are a lot of people heading into that area of creative writing. Thanks!

Answer by Nao
If the school itself does not have screenwriting then you would mostly likely be better off doing English with maybe a creative writing concentration, most schools have that but you definetely need to take English as a major with maybe a minor in theatre.

Major in some sort of liberal arts degree. You probably won’t know what “career” you want until a few years after you’ve been working (after college). Even then, your “career” may change several times.

Or, pick an engineering or science major and get awesome grades and then move onto some sort of post-graduate program.

At some point you have to pick a direction… but if you’re just starting you should try to take a few gen eds to broaden your horizons and figure out what you’re interested in, while knocking out some graduation requirements.
