Is choosing a career in martial arts a good idea?

2月 15, 2012 · Posted in 未分類 · 2 Comments

Question by Hames: Is choosing a career in martial arts a good idea?
I’m 15 and quite talented in martial arts (I have my 6th dan). It’s my true passion, but I’m trying to figure out if it’s a good career to get into. Is there many options? Are there any other options besides opening a dojo/school? Questions like that. Any comments/questions/suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Not really. It’s not like one of the top 10 professions on the job market. Other than owning a dojo or being an instructor, you can maybe be a stunt man or double for films.

What languages are good to learn if I want a career in biology/psychology?

1月 26, 2012 · Posted in 未分類 · 2 Comments

Question by Kalia: What languages are good to learn if I want a career in biology/psychology?
I’m a college sophmore right now, planning on double majoring in bio + psych. Is there any language that I can easily learn (on my own) that will be useful for a career in this area? A lot of job descriptions say “Bilingualism an asset.”

I live in Canada and learned French when I was a kid, but I only know very basic phrases and don’t know if it’s worth pursuing. So, any advice?

Best answer:

Answer by Chris Chris
Well, it depends. A long time ago, German was the language of science, so every once in a while, especially in psychology, you’ll run into either a phrase or entire article in german.

Otherwise, it depends on what you want to end up doing… if you want to go into research, learning another language is useful for communicating with other members of the science community. If you’re going into psychology, then perhaps spanish or french would be useful to communicate with people who would rather speak their native language than english.

Question by Stressed: What is a good job/career with a high salary that only requires a bachelor’s degree?
So I’m a senior in high school and I still have no idea what I would like to major in in college or what type of job/career I would like to pursue. What is a good career with a high paying salary that only requires a bachelors degree?

If you have a degree – or any alternative qualification – then you’ll already be in front of of the bunch when it comes to looking for vocations. My mate has a degree and he wasn’t certain what direction to go with it, but he unearthed some good guidance on the site in the resource box below which helped him to settle that he wanted to be a lab assistant. There is loads of assistance on the site regarding alternative vocations.

Q&A: What Masters program should I do for a good career?

Question by csss s: What Masters program should I do for a good career?
I have a BA in Sociology and have spent 10 yrs as a tennis pro. I need a new career.

Best answer:

Answer by Ceecee
The most logical thing to do will be find a masters program in a specific discipline of sociology. However, since you are interested in sports, you can try to find a degree studying sports and sociology. Or just sports, depending on what you like more. Masters students can research their own interests so maybe you can get into school with sociology an do your research in tennis.

Question by supuu: What is a good education background for a forensic career?
I am currently majoring in Biology and i am thinking of taking CCJ(criminology and criminal justice), or chemistry as my minor, is this a good background for a career in Forensics?

Anybody in the forensics field?

Best answer:

The basic forensic field is law. I am a retired lawyer.

Forensics means public debate.

There are very few laboratory forensic positions available and forensic lab work is routine and boring.

Forensic TV shows are fiction.

What would be a good career choice for me?

1月 9, 2012 · Posted in 未分類 · 2 Comments

Question by ♫amazing♫: What would be a good career choice for me?
I am 17 and I am going to be a junior in high school.
I have been thinking a lot about my future lately.

I am really interested in the different cultures in the world and I am also interested in different things about the earth.
What kind of job could I have that dealt with stuff like that? And what would I major in, in college?

But, I also have a strong passion for music. I am a good singer and have been taking voice lessons for 2 years. And I would like to have a career that had something to do with that.

What would be a good major and career for me?

Thanks!

Answer by Carrie C
Since you are interested in different cultures and want to travel, you may consider trying out for the college choir. Most will take various trips. As a major I would suggest something in archaeology or possibly european studies and history. You could get to travel that way.

Question by Bobby: Is Heald College a good place to pursue a career as a registered nurse?
I’m planning to go to Heald College to pursue a career as a registered nurse, or RN. If I take it at a community college or elsewhere, they require me to be on a waiting list for a very long time. Is Heald College a good place?

I looked at the consumer site http://www.ripoffreport.com and there are 4 posts about the school. One can just type into search. Perhaps you can take your prereq courses and other requirements while waiting for the county college.

Please steer clear of those online, for-profit schools (some have ‘bricks and mortar’ buildings and may be accredited) such as penn foster, capella, everest, ITT tech, sanford brown, university of phoenix, devry, walden, kaplan, argosy, colorado tech and others as they are merely out to ‘make a profit’ (and course credits may not transfer). One can type into search at that same site mentioned previously :)
