Freshman in college, trying to find a career/major. Looking to make 40-45k plus with a four year degree starting out and even more with a masters. Wants good employment outlook for the future. Everyone saying med field but not into being in a lab or working with physically sick patients. Any ideas?

Hi all,
This is my first job from uni. I m now a trainee recruiter in an MNC recruitment firm, thinking that this will provide a good groundwork to potentially go into HR. However I find myself unable to treat humans like profit-making tools. So i’m reconsidering my choice. If I were to quit after only a few months what other career options can I consider? Can i still leverage on my short stint ther to get into HR?

You might not have to quit your job if you could only change your mindset. Don’t think of it as treating humnas like profit-making tools — instead, think of your position as a service to clients, helping them find jobs that best match their skills and career desires. If you make some money along the way, so what? Also consider this — almost every company treats people that way to some extent, if that company is a for-profit organization. But the reverse is not good either — non-profits often treat their people like slaves, expecting long hours for not much pay.
Since you’ve been there only a few months it’s probably not going to enhance your chances of getting into HR — but that doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t get into HR, either…just depends on the position you want, I guess. It might be better to stay there for at least a year and learn what you can from the position and from those with more experience.
