I suggest that you begin with lessons. You may be good at the trombone, but it doesn’t mean that coach isn’t needed. Maybe your instructor could tell you about people you can talk to, and maybe you can begin a small career.

Question by hope: What is a career path, other than journalism, where i could utilize my love of poetry and literature?
I love to write, but i would hate to be stuck in a job writing a teen magazine column for the rest of my life.
What is a career where i can write profound literary writings and convey my interpretations and oppinions?
What careers would suit me?

You could just be a professional writer and get your own books published. I’m sure you realize that’s a tough road.
You could also become a professor. Many people are inspired and have their lives changed by a single good teacher. I say college or university professor over a highschool or lower teacher, because professors often get their articles published in professional journals.

Cook County Works restructures President’s Office of Employment Training

The President’s Office of Employee Training (POET) will be rebranded as Cook County Works under a restructuring announced today by Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle and Cook County Works Director Karin Norington-Reaves. Preckwinkle said the name change comes as the agency initiates a major restructuring that will see it refocus its mission, reduce staff and streamline operations. “The County also has several important economic development capacities that have historically been under-utilized. We have a real opportunity to redefine Cook County’s place as the economic hub of the Midwest,” said Preckwinkle. “Workforce development and job training is particularly critical as we continue to struggle through a prolonged economic downturn. I’m pleased to announce today that we have set forth a series of major reforms to reinvent the way we serve our residents.” Currently, POET has 56 staff positions. As Cook County Works, that figure will be reduced to 33 positions. The reduction will allow the agency to realize a significant savings on personnel expenses: About .9 million — or more than 35 percent — of the agency’s .5 million annual budget is spent on personnel. Norington-Reaves said the staff reductions were the result of a comprehensive review of the agency’s staff and job functions. “Through the restructuring process, we identified opportunities to free up resources for direct programming. There were numerous redundant positions and job titles as well as …

MOM reviewing English test for domestic maids By Imelda Saad | Posted: 06 June 2011 2035 hrs SINGAPORE: The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) is conducting a full review of the written English proficiency test for foreign domestic workers (FDW). It says the review has been underway since it received feedback on the matter over the past several months. The test is under the spotlight following the death of a 26-year-old Indonesian who hanged herself after failing it three times in as many days. Currently, would-be maids have to pass the test within three days of their arrival. They are sent back home if they fail but are free to come back to Singapore to re-take the test. The problem is that those sent home often have to worry about debts incurred with recruitment agencies, and without a job, they cannot pay up. Singapore is the only country in Asia-Pacific where the test is compulsory. On her Facebook page, MP for Moulmein-Kallang GRC, Denise Phua, said she had written an appeal to Manpower Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam and he “promptly responded that he has already asked for a full review”. MediaCorp received a copy of Ms Phua’s email to the minister. In it, she wrote about how the current test was “borne out of good intent but the implementation needs fine tuning.” “It seems to be testing their English proficiency rather than their knowledge of their main duties as FDW. Good for MOM to revisit the competencies required of an FDW, knowing that not all employers themselves are …
What are the career options for this person and what would their salary be?
Question by Gloria: What are the career options for this person and what would their salary be?
What are the career options for a person with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, a Master’s Degree in Nursing, and a ph.D in Nursing? Also, what is the approximate salary for those careers?

Answer by Tahuti Reincarnate
A BSN doesn’t earn more than any other RN (a 2 year degree), but what it does give you is the option to go on to your Masters. So, around 40K/year.
A MSN usually means you’re a “Nurse Practitioner,” and they make closer to 80K/year. (double) So, that is definitely a degree worth getting.
In my opinion a Ph.D. in Nursing does not increase your salary enough to pay for the cost of University.
Another possibility would be after your BSN to get a Master’s in Administration, then be an Administrator at a Nursing home, or in a Hospital. This will increase your salary above other RNs.
