Question by Jess: How do I start my marine biology career so late out of college?
I have a degree in Marine Biology. I graduated in 2004 from a great school but due to personal reasons, I had to put off my career in this field. I have not lost the passion for this and things in my life are getting to the point where I could finally begin to pursue my career. What can do so late out of college to begin? I feel like it’s been too long since I’ve been in school, in labs, etc. Is there any hope?

You’ll probably need to get an internship to get your start back into this career field. And of course there is hope! I also put my degree off, and evenutally got back into it. I was honest with my employer. Just tell them you are passionate about marine biology, but had to deal with some personal things for the past couple of years. They’ll understand. Take care.

a teacher, you get the same holidays and summer off with your kids. a professor is even better but you need to get a phd. if you’re good in sales and like parties and mingling, a real estate agent.

I am in my first year of college, and am wondering what I should major in. I know everyone says to major in what you like, but let’s get realistic – we’re in tough economic times, and I want to have a career that will surely provide financial stability.
By financial stability, I mean having money to pay all of my bills, and extra money for leisure. What is a career that fits my “criteria”? I plan on going to graduate school for my Master’s Degree (if that helps in suggesting a career).

How would I go about getting a career in research (administration?) and grant funding? I want to be someone who readings requests for grants for programs and things? I don’t know if I’m explaining it right, sorry! If you know what I mean then please help me! Preferably grants and research in a science concentration. What would I do for a bachelors? Do I need a masters and/or doctorate?
