There are numerous methods of massage and just as many types of schools that teach them. But essentially you will use a combination of techniques to release stress and tension from the muscles in the body.
The education depends on the state in which you are applying for your license. Most cities have massage therapy schools and offer certificate programs in Massage Therapy. Some therapists then go on to become physical therapists by enrolling in college level classes.
In my city, masseuses average about 25.00 per hour, this is after supplies, rental of space and averaging in taxes to be paid at the end of the fiscal year. The problem however is maintaining consistent clientèle and having somewhere to practice. And being responsible for paying their own taxes each year bites into their gross salary quite a bit.

If you are interviewing with an employer, what would be off-limits when discussing starting salary? I was told to just let the boss man decide and don’t argue. But I want to know what would happen if the interviewer suggested a salary, but you think you could do better as far as the experience you have, referrals etc.
Would that be a deciding factor in whether you would get hired or not?

Nothing is off-limits, as long as it’s done in a tactful manner. If you feel the offer you’re being given is too low, counter with what you feel you deserve, and why. I once did this, and was able to negotiate an extra $ 12K. ($ 6K right off the bat, and another $ 6K in 6-months if they were happy with my performance)
