Any suggestions on how I can find salary range for a specific position within a specific company prior to a job interview? I dont want to call and ask HR office at this stage and have had two phone interviews and never have they stated salary range nor asked my current salary. Any websites that might be able to help find this info? Other suggestions?

I work at a college for a private contractor and the school is scheduled to close for Christmas break. Can my salary be pro-rated for not working that being as I have no choice in the matter?

If you’re a private contractor then you’re technically not on a “salary” as such, you’re on contract rates. So yes, unless there’s a specific clause in your contract (which is rarely the case) then they only have to pay you for the work you do and they’re under no obligation to keep your hours up if they don’t need you . Contracting doesn’t carry the same benefits as full-time employment, which is why many seasonally-driven institutions, like schools, prefer them.
